hi i have aproblem with my VW Golf just yesterday i inflated my flat tire with an air compressor using my cigarette lighter…. then when i was ready to go the car would not start, when i turned the key in the warnings lights on the dashboard lit up etc and one in particular was flashings the ‘car’ light. All i could hear was clicking as i turned the key in no noise from the engine at all and the digital milage display was not coming on.. (i have fuel, so its not that) any sugestions would be great…. : )
Thanks
yes the car was not on when i used the compressor. But i did not switch the car or drive it for about 2 weeks before that.
But i got my neighbour to jump start my car and its running now so its fine.
But i only took it round the block not a to get the battery used to working again so was that enough time to let the engine on or should i go and take it for a spin right now? lol

My 75yr old friend gave it to me today. It is a ballon filling tank. I have no idea the PSI it can hold or the gallon size? Can you tell me?
Will this blow up in my face. Its not a air tank , its a helium tank
I want to operate my hadley truck air horns. They need 90 psi.
I opened the valve alittle and i hear air comming out. He said it was empty. Why should air come out
there is one connector and a turn off valve…
heres the pic of it..mine is just red

wll this work for my air horns. Im going to put it in the trunk and i will use 2 small tire compressors to power it
thanks
NOTE: I AM NOT USING HELIUM, IM USING THE EMPTY TANK AND GOING TO PUT AIR INTO IT FROM THE COMPRESSOR…>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I’m just curious as to if anyone else has ever had this experience. This example is a little silly, but I actually used the solution that I came up for in my dream and hadn’t thought of it prior to that. I just thought it was interesting that while sleeping I developed a solution to one of my problems.
I have a large dune buggy/go kart that has a flat tire on it. I also had a party a couple of months ago and someone stole my air compressor. I had been trying to figure out how I was going to fill the tire without either buying a new air compressor or taking the wheels off to fill the tire someplace else. Well, last night in a dream, I had a couple of friends over to my house and we were tooling around with the go kart when someone suggested that I put fix a flat in the tire and it should fill it up enough to get it to the gas station to refill the tire with their air compressor.
I woke up and did this… I just can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before!
Silly example, but one that got me thinking a bit. Have you ever had an experience like this before?

about a week ago my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta Gls 1.8t lost its air conditioning, i put some gages on it and the low side was reading 60 then when the compressor kicked on it went down to 40 and once it kicked back off it went back to 60. The high side on the other hand reads about normal at about 250, my automotive instructor at my college thought it may have been the expansion valve so tonight i replaced that and recharged the system and still no luck can someone please shine some light on this???
the low pressure side is supposed to be about 40 then drop to about 25 when the compressor kicks on and then off at about 25 how is that an okay reading?

Bought a Rav4 1998 for 00 (good deal) it had squeaky brakes and a buzzy sound in the motor
well I got it back from _____ (this is a well known national auto repair and tire company) after paying 30 for everything they said needed to be done (struts, brakes, drums, shocks, fluids, radiator, compressor, air conditioner recharge, tires, air filter, etc.) and the front brakes STILL squeaked and it sounded like a buzzy motorcycle, so I took it right back
So they "fixed" it; they greased the front brakes so much that grease was oozing in the wheel rims, they still squeaked (front) then they put a new muffler on which did not address the buzzy sound (at "no charge" but it didn’t fix the problem)…
so I took it back after spending another 0 for another mechanic to diagnose the squeake and buzz, turns out the former owner had the entire motor replaced 3+ years ago, so now _______ auto repair and tire company says that they don’t have to adjust the valves unless I pay MORE…
they never fixed the buzzy sound in the first place, just did a bunch of GUILT stuff that cost me nearly as much as the car, now they want to charge for the valve adjustment too!
I will name names soon if they don’t make this right.
What doyou think?
Oh, and the brakes still squeak.

First of all, don’t laugh if I’m not using the exact terminology : I’m not a mechanic !
Now, the problem is that my 99 Alero air conditioning compressor went off. I heard a squealing in the engine, I took my car to the mechanic and he said the A/C compressor needed to be replaced but it was extremely expensive. He said that – maybe – he can make a bypass and I won’t have A/C anymore but that will prevent the belt drive from falling apart one day.
I don’t wanna blow a bundle over this cheap-ass car because I have to go back to Europe in July and I will have to sell it by then. I paid 2,500$ for the car and I already paid to have new tires (I had a flat tire first, and I decided to change them all) and a new tie rod end…Enough !
My question is : what will eventually happen if I leave it like that ?
Is the bypass operation really effective ?
I already had the answers by two mechanics, but I’d like to hear from you since you are not financially involved in this operation, if you see what I mean…

So, I’ve charged my ac system, Changed fuses, checked lines for leaks.. anything I can think of as an automotive novice. The one thing that I have noticed is that my clutch doesn’t engage when activate the ac. Should I just replace the AC compressor? or just the clutch? That seems like the problem, so how should I go about replacing the compressor? I’ve never done it before, but I’ll tell you what I think I’m supposed to do from what I’ve seen. 1) Evacuate Freon from all the lines… I guess I’ll just bleed them from where I put the new freon in before. 2) Release tensioner 3) Take off Serp belt 4) Take off lines that meet compressor 5) Disconnect all electrical equipment connected to compressor 6) Unbolt compressor and bolt on new one. And reverse directions plus adding freon to system. Actually, wouldn’t i need to worry about moisture and air in the lines when i take off the compressor? How can i deal with that for a reasonable. hopefully do-it-yourself type price? Thanks for any and all helpful responses!!
All of these answers are fantastic but I’ll draw straws and pick one.

The Menards store has these compressors for 89.00 which is pretty cheap so it makes me wonder if it’s good or not. What kind of tools will it run? I mainly will use it for blow gun, tire inhalator, nail gun, and maybe sanders, cut off tools, and ratchet tools. If anybody has this unit please let me know how it is. Thanks
