Cadillac: computer/electrical related Air conditioning problem?

I have a 94 Cadillac sedan deville, smooth running car, all computers intact and working properly, all new spark plugs, full AC coolant, When I try to run the AC it automatically sets itself on "economy" and does not get cool. after about 10 minutes it shuts off and the information light says " low AC refridgerant" I had the ac compressor replaced a little over a year ago, but the mechanic who did it now has a warant out for his arrest, and is being hunted by the FBI for buying junk parts with bad checks and telling people they were new installed. I cannot afford anything over to get it fixed, but I must, I live in south florida with a toddler and am due again in November. If anyone can help I promise a best answer and high rating!
I have purchased a can of stop leak freon and attempted to fill me compressor only to have the compressor be full and not accept any freon from the can. checked the lines, no leak.

Got overdosed for fixes at ___________ tire and auto repair center, they still want more!?

Bought a Rav4 1998 for 00 (good deal) it had squeaky brakes and a buzzy sound in the motor

well I got it back from _____ (this is a well known national auto repair and tire company) after paying 30 for everything they said needed to be done (struts, brakes, drums, shocks, fluids, radiator, compressor, air conditioner recharge, tires, air filter, etc.) and the front brakes STILL squeaked and it sounded like a buzzy motorcycle, so I took it right back

So they "fixed" it; they greased the front brakes so much that grease was oozing in the wheel rims, they still squeaked (front) then they put a new muffler on which did not address the buzzy sound (at "no charge" but it didn’t fix the problem)…

so I took it back after spending another 0 for another mechanic to diagnose the squeake and buzz, turns out the former owner had the entire motor replaced 3+ years ago, so now _______ auto repair and tire company says that they don’t have to adjust the valves unless I pay MORE…

they never fixed the buzzy sound in the first place, just did a bunch of GUILT stuff that cost me nearly as much as the car, now they want to charge for the valve adjustment too!
I will name names soon if they don’t make this right.
What doyou think?
Oh, and the brakes still squeak.

What now that the A/C compressor is broken…?

First of all, don’t laugh if I’m not using the exact terminology : I’m not a mechanic !
Now, the problem is that my 99 Alero air conditioning compressor went off. I heard a squealing in the engine, I took my car to the mechanic and he said the A/C compressor needed to be replaced but it was extremely expensive. He said that – maybe – he can make a bypass and I won’t have A/C anymore but that will prevent the belt drive from falling apart one day.
I don’t wanna blow a bundle over this cheap-ass car because I have to go back to Europe in July and I will have to sell it by then. I paid 2,500$ for the car and I already paid to have new tires (I had a flat tire first, and I decided to change them all) and a new tie rod end…Enough !
My question is : what will eventually happen if I leave it like that ?
Is the bypass operation really effective ?
I already had the answers by two mechanics, but I’d like to hear from you since you are not financially involved in this operation, if you see what I mean…

Catalytic converter – plugged?

A mechanic claimed he had to replace a catalytic converter because it was plugged "like a potato was jammed in the tailpipe".
I retrieved the old catalytic converter. What sort of test could I perform to determine the extent to which it is plugged? Presumably, the situation would be different driving on the freeway than just blowing cold air from an air compressor.
Are there "check engine" error codes or other ways to know that a catalytic converter is plugged?
Are there automotive forensic services, in Connecticut or nationwide, that can perform tests?
The extra charge was 0 and I’m sure the mechanic is in the habit of scamming people just because he can get away with it. He quoted 0 "verbally" then acted like I was a sap for trusting his verbal quote.

automotive starting tools?

I am going to start doing an apprenticeship for automotive tech work, like a standard mechanic does and i need to know what some good starter tools would be because i need to know because i can’t just walk in there with no tools or at least crappy ones. So far I have: Rotary tools, an electric drill, some wrenches and sockets, punches and chissle’s, ratchets, a small air compressor and a small crappy tool box with 3 small drawers and the top storage place, and a screw driver set, oh and alot of allan keys. Specific answers are very appreciated. thank you.

Mechanic says mother's Jeep Liberty's belt melted because the air compressor is dead… bull?

Please bear with my lack of automotive knowledge :P So my mother has a Jeep Liberty… almost 280k miles… the belt melted and the car does will not start. The A/C doesn’t work but she can live without A/C. The mechanic told my mother she needs to get her air compressor replaced for the car to run properly (0), and that’s why the belt melted. Does this sound reasonable or like bull****?
Thank you everyone for answering quickly! You all helped a lot :)
Alright yeah I asked the wrong question because I’m an idiot :) Here is the new one… lol

Automotive Technology | HVAC High Pressure Sensor

Describes the operation of the A/C (HVAC) or air conditioning high pressure sensor. This sensor is often the source of a NO-START condition. It sometimes shares the reference voltage with other sensors, such as the MAP, MAF sensor. This means that a short in this circuit will render the engine inoperative. See how it works in this training video. Get the scoop on this often ignored automotive sensor.
